I was skeptical of putting my loved one in a care home until I toured the Hummingbird Retreat in Scottsdale, AZ. At that moment, I knew this was the place for our loved one. Hummingbird Retreat is like the home that is caring, kind, considerate and always there to help in everyway. The staff is very kind, caring, considerate and they care about the safety of our loved one. They make us feel right at home. They gave our loved one a birthday party that was so very special. I feel Hummingbird Retreat gives our loved ones the care, kindness, and diginity they deserve as well as a safe environment. We are quite please with the care and safety of our loved one at Hummingbird Retreat.

In February of 2026 our sister was in need of more care than we could provide, following a hospitalization after a fall. She needed wound care, proper nutrition and supervision due to the onset of dementia. We found everything we needed for that critical period at Hummingbird Retreat. The wound care was excellent, as was the protein-focused food—just what she needed for her specific situation. But none of that would have been as effective had she not also been treated with respect and compassion. The kindness that was shown to her was also shown to us, her family, at a very stressful time for us all. Hummingbird is not only physically suitable for the needs of people seeking care, it is lovely and immaculate-- with an attention to detail that makes one feel “at home”. Our sister’s primary aid and the nurses who managed her care will be friends of ours for life. While we moved our sister to be closer to family, many States away, we were very appreciative of the care she recieved during her time at Hummingbird.
